SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA – As the holidays rapidly approach and families begin to plan their Thanksgiving feasts, one in seven San Luis Obispo County residents don’t know where their next meal is coming from, according to statistics from the Food Bank Coalition. But Rizzoli’s Automotive, is working to combat this hunger epidemic, and invites the community to contribute to their efforts.

What began in 2007, as an Annual Holiday Food Drive to benefit local food banks, is now an all-year, all-out effort to help keep the food banks in both counties full. Year-to-date Rizzoli’s has collected a total of 2,767 pounds of food at their two locations in San Luis Obispo and Santa Maria, and the donations continue to pour in. With unemployment rates reaching 10.5% in San Luis Obispo County and 9.1% in Santa Barbara County, this local business is committed to helping those who need it most in their communities this holiday season.

“The Food Bank estimates that 40,000 people in San Luis Obispo County go hungry every day,” said Kyle Rizzoli, general manager of Rizzoli’s Automotive. “With the holidays creating even greater need, it’s a great time to consider the less fortunate.”

To show their appreciation, those who contribute to the Rizzoli’s food drive will receive a $5 off service or repair voucher. Rizzoli’s Automotive is located at 2584 Victoria Lane in San Luis Obispo and 1149 W. Tama Lane off Skyway Drive in Santa Maria. Non-perishable food items of any size are welcome at both locations.
