Rizzoli’s Automotive Urges Community to Combat Hunger

SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA – Many families will go hungry this holiday season, but what most people don’t realize is that many more go hungry all year round. That’s why Rizzoli’s Automotive is calling on the community this holiday season to consider giving not just during the holidays, but also throughout the year.
Rizzoli’s Automotive has partnered with the Food Bank Coalition of San Luis Obispo County since 2007 to combat the hunger epidemic here on the Central Coast. The local auto shop asks that those who wish to donate food can drop off pantry items such as canned fruit and vegetables, oatmeal, whole grain crackers, dried pasta, rice, canned meats and beans, canned soup, peanut butter and other non-perishable food items.
“Thousands of people go hungry in San Luis Obispo County every day, and with the season of giving approaching, it’s a great time for all of us to consider those who are less fortunate,” said Kyle Rizzoli, general manager of Rizzoli’s Automotive.
What began in 2007 as an annual holiday food drive to benefit local food banks has become a year-long effort to help keep the food bank in San Luis Obispo County full. So far this year, Rizzoli’s has collected over 1,651 pounds of food, but they’re hoping for even more food this winter.
“Hunger is something that happens every day in San Luis Obispo County and we’re committed to providing healthy, nutritious food to those who don’t have enough to eat,” said Carl Hansen, executive director at Food Bank Coalition of San Luis Obispo. “Our relationship with Rizzoli’s Automotive has helped feed hundreds of families and individuals over the years, and we’re so grateful for their continued support.”
Rizzoli’s Automotive will give a $5 off voucher for service or repairs to those who contribute to the food drive.
