How often should I get my oil changed?

At Rizzoli’s Automotive, we recommend to our customers to get their oil changed every 5,000-7,000 miles, and here’s why:

If you have bought a new car recently, you may have noticed that the recommended interval between oil changes has increased significantly. Some automotive manufacturers’ recommendations are as high as 15,000 miles (up from the standard 3,000-5,000 mile oil change intervals). The reason for this is that many of the manufacturers are now offering free scheduled maintenance services during the new car warranty period.

While these long service intervals may be fine for your engine during the time your vehicle is still under warranty, this increased amount of time between oil changes can cause considerable contaminated oil and sludge to build up over time – which becomes a big problem once the warranty has expired.

Bringing your vehicle to Rizzoli’s Automotive for interim oil changes every 5,000-7,000 miles (depending on your vehicle) will ensure that this damaging sludge and debris does not build up in your engine, keeping your vehicle running better, longer. This also allows us to monitor and check for any manufacturer warranty concerns that may arise. The manufacturers’ maintenance schedules do not, in our opinion, ensure the long-term health of your car. Changing your vehicle’s oil at intervals of 5,000 to 7,000 miles will not jeopardize your manufacturers warranty! We will not reset your maintenance interval reminder, ensuring that our factory-scheduled maintenence plan remains on track.
